We all know the signs of aging: a few lines here and there, maybe an age spot … but our eyelashes? Yes, sadly, they show their age too, losing thickness, pigment, and even falling out. Start taking care of them now with a few simple tips, and you’ll be batting those lovely lashes no matter what your age!
THE POWER OF OIL
Battle brittle lashes by applying one of these conditioning oils with a clean mascara brush or cotton ball to moisturize and nourish your lashes before bed.
No, not the kind you put in your car! Castor oil (the cold-pressed variety that you buy at your health food store), is rich in ricinoleic acid, is easily absorbed, and has anti inflammatory properties. Besides moisturizing dry lashes, castor oil is numéro un for lash growth and thickening. But be careful, and avoid getting it in your eyes.
This wonder oil can take off your eye makeup and nourish your lashes all in one step! Leave a little extra on overnight, and watch as your lashes improve.
Borrow a bottle from the pantry and put it on your bedside table. Olive oil is rich in vitamin E and oleic acid, and adds volume while maintaining dark pigment.
1 part castor oil
1 part sweet almond oil
1 vitamin E gel capsule
Mix equal parts of the two oils. Add liquid from gel capsule. Dab a clean mascara wand into the serum and apply a single, light coat to your eyelashes. Start at the root and sweep up to the tips for healthier, smoother, and stronger lashes.
TAKE IT ALL OFF
Remove your eye makeup gently (never rub!) every single night. When you sleep with mascara on, your lashes become brittle and dry, and are more likely to break off.
