We love getting dolled up, but all of that hair styling can leave our locks dry and damaged. What’s a girl to do? Try out these easy-to-make masks—from things you probably already have in your kitchen—to keep your strands soft and shiny right through the year.
DE-FRIZZ AND SMOOTH MASK
3 teaspoons organic extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup organic unsweetened almond milk (or organic whole milk)
1/2 organic banana
1 organic free range egg
In a bowl, mash banana with a fork until smooth. Then stir in the rest of the ingredients. Apply liberally starting at the roots, then work your way down to the ends. Braid hair to keep it out of your face, and leave mask on for 30 minutes to an hour. Rinse well with lukewarm water and enjoy your silky tresses! Bonus, it smells great too!
2 tablespoons raw honey
1 to 3 tablespoons organic extra virgin olive oil
1 cup raw organic coconut oil
1 vitamin E gel capsule
Combine the first three ingredients in a bowl. Then, using a pin or knife, pierce the vitamin E capsule, squeeze gel into the mixture, and stir well. Use a cotton cosmetic pad to soak up the mask and apply starting at the roots, then work your way down to the ends. Twist and clamp hair up using a clip and cover with plastic wrap. Leave mask on for an hour, then rinse out with shampoo and conditioner.
