The expression, “Like father, like son” could be used to describe Lebanese designer Tony Ward. As the son of the acclaimed Beirut-based couturier, Elie Ward, Tony grew up surrounded by the beautifully tailored suits and elegant evening gowns that made his father famous. It seemed inevitable that the younger Ward would follow his father into the world of fashion.
Ward left home to study at Paris’ famed design school, L’Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. After graduation, he worked with some of the icons of fashion: Gianfranco Ferré at Christian Dior Couture, Karl Lagerfeld at Chloé, and Claude Montana at Lanvin. Taking what he learned about haute couture from the masters themselves, Ward returned to Beirut to launch Tony Ward Couture in 1997.
Ward is known for his exquisite embroidery, fine fabrics, and use of sheer illusion, creating gowns that are both sophisticated and sensual. Tony Ward’s latest collection is an homage to femininity and timeless, classic style which has made him a favorite amongst celebrities around the globe.
