Steven Khalil is one of Australia’s leading designers, known for his head-turning eveningwear and bridal gowns. His designs are sought after for their elegance and sophistication, combining classic elements of a bygone era with a contemporary edge.
At an early age Khalil showed an interest in design, especially captivated by the movement and drape of fabrics. He studied fashion in school, and upon graduation at nineteen, quickly garnered attention for his creative eye and meticulous workmanship. He began in renowned bridal houses, where he rapidly rose through the ranks, appointed head designer at only twenty-two years of age.
In 2003, Khalil started his own label in Sydney. Drawn to the classical era of European couture, he expanded beyond his breathtaking bridal gowns to include couture designs that incorporate both modern refinement and old world luxury. Steven Khalil Couture is a favorite of celebrities, among them Eva Longoria, Giuliana Rancic, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and Paula Abdul, who are often photographed on the red carpet in his designs.
FEMME ROUGE brought the best of Khalil’s couture collections to an historic theatre in downtown Los Angeles for our exclusive photo shoot. (Get a glimpse behind the scenes in our video above.)
